The Words of a Grieving Parent

It’s okay to acknowledge that I have lost a child.

It’s okay to  acknowledge  I lost both of my children.

And yes…it’s okay to still talk to me about them.

Because my love hasn't changed, it only grew.

Even with death. It grows.

Because love never dies.

They were and are beautiful.

It’s okay to tell me Happy Mother’s Day.

I would appreciate it, after all I will always be their mom.

Death does not exclude me from what God gave me.

So don’t worry – it’s okay.

Talk to me. Ask me. Listen. Grief. Hug. Love. Be there.

I would love to hear from you.

I am a grieving parent but not of one but two.

Two beautiful and sensitive souls that will exist longer than my memory of despair holds.

For they deserved a life worth of happiness to show for all they fought for.

Love.

Forgive.

Forget.

Heal.

Grow.

Feel.

Express.

Help others.

Give thanks.

Don’t judge.

Be grateful.

How rare and beautiful it is that we truly exist.

For all the grieving parents in this world. I see you. I am you.
